Job Summary

Reporting to Director-Commercial, the Marketing Representative is generally accountable for developing and managing proactive client relationships and identifying customer needs as well as the provision of support in the commercial analysis for the company's revenue generation functions (PPEM Front Office, PPGPL Commercial and PPGPL Business Development).

In effecting this accountability, the Marketing Representative ensures that PPEM’s annual revenue targets are met, and plans are developed to grow the revenue base of the organization into the foreseeable future. This will require an in-depth knowledge of regional and international NGL markets and the ability to devise plans and strategies to sustain and strengthen PPEM’s competitive advantage. 

Dimensions

The Marketing Representative contributes to a sustainable revenue stream for the business and is a key professional position in PPEM’s marketing and NGL trading activities. The position provides a range of marketing support actions and services aimed at achieving the Company's commercial objectives of growing its market share and establishing a competitive position in the market. Functionally, the incumbent will interface frequently with customers and the Logistics team to ensure that the contractual obligations, inventory management and vessel scheduling activities are executed. The position will provide follow-up and compute values for products sold and delivered to customers and produce reports and analyses.

The position operates under general guidelines and specifically must interpret and analyze customer requirements, market conditions and competitor strategies as well as have a sufficient overall understanding of the international market fundamentals to inform the marketing strategies of the company.

Internal frequent interfaces include Hull Terminal Operations, Logistics, Finance and President - PPEM. External key interfaces are PPEM’s suppliers, customers, and rail service providers.

Nature & Scope

The position of Marketing Representative is essentially responsible for providing assistance in the development of the commercial framework for generating revenue from PPEM’s commercial activities. The position assists the President – PPEM in the development of marketing strategies, forecasting revenue stream and management of enterprise risk.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assist with the development of customer relationship management strategies as well as communicate with internal and external customers and respond to their needs.

2. Assist in the development of marketing strategies-e.g., long-term product sales agreements, new products and markets, strategic alliances, etc.

3. Monitor and report commercial activity including monthly volumes, pricing, operating costs and revenue.

4. Provide Director, Commercial with regular updates on business activity, key metrics and overall performance.

5. Establish contractual arrangements with NGL suppliers and buyers for sale and purchase of product.

6. Research, report and identify new business opportunities including competitive market analysis, supply/demand studies, economic and trend analysis.

7. Work closely with other cross functional team members including commercial and business development representatives to identify new growth opportunities and develop those ideas from concept to implementation.

8. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Hull Terminal field personnel, ensuring that customer expectations are met.

9. Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends and analytics. 

10. Prepare position papers, reports and presentations as required for management and/or the Board of Directors.

11. Interface with Finance Department to provide information for management and board reporting.

12. Assist in the preparation and management of the department's annual overhead & operating budget, product price premium forecast and monthly and year-end inventory targets.

13. Maintain the marketing database.

Job Specifications

Minimum Acceptable Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Natural Sciences, Engineering or related field. 

AND

Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

Seven (7) - Ten (10) experience in a marketing/commercial function with:

• 5+ years in liquid fuel marketing 

• 3+ year of logistics experience including rail, transport trucks, pipeline movements

• 3+ years of NGL industry experience

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

a. Technical Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in fields of management, economics, finance

• Detailed understanding of gas plant NGL balancing, butane blending & gasoline blending

• Knowledge of deal approval protocols, credit, contracts, accounting

• In-depth knowledge of NGL markets

• Strong analytical and communications skills

• Negotiation skills
